These are the Chandlers

They don't know me. The dad there is Matt. Pray about his brain -- it'd be OK if he's waiting to find out the previous brain scan was a mistake. That's enough of a miracle.

Lord: any miracle will do.

Bobby Grow

We take a break from taking a break blogging here to ask for prayer for Bobby Grow.

When God's Word causes you to sin

We covered my covetousness over the Calfskin ESV yesterday. Today I just want to point out that this Bible edition is even more drool-worthy. If you have never handled or used a loose leaf bible before, you really have no idea what it means to have a real "note taker's" Bible. Wide margins are nice, I guess, but not hardly beefy enough to take real notes on a perpetual basis. You get one of these bad boys and a ream of acid-free, pre-drilled white 8.5x11 paper, and a set of accounting binders, and you have what I would call the top shelf of self-study Bible tools which does not require electricity.

When mine arrives, I'll do a series of blog posts on how to make your copious-note-taker's bible.

In more serious, real-faith news, my brother John sent me this link, and he has requested prayer for this young lady from his church.

You people remember how to do that, right?

Prayer for Ashley

Prayer request for Ashley, who was in a car accident last week.

seriously now

I want to find a Maltese or Maltese-mixed puppy for $200 or less, and I don't want the dog "shipped", so I'm looking for some animal within 150 miles of zip code 72734 that I can drive and go get. We would prefer a female if possible.

Because that's what my kids want. I tried to talk them into a Noble Beagle or a mighty Great Dane (Scooby Doo is a Great Dane), but they won't hear of it.

Any help?

Just stop a minute

I was reading Tim Stevens' blog when I found this piece about a tragedy in Steven Curtis Chapman's family.

All jokes are off today. We should mourn this tragedy with the Chapman family and pray for the healing of this terrible accident in their family's emotional and spiritual lives.

Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, "Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away; blessed be the name of Yahweh."

Prayer Request

Dear Readers,

I have been chatting with a fellow part of the little community we have here at my blog, who has a great-grandson named Jayden. Jayden's mother is a heroin addict, and Jayden was born addicted.

Listen: there's nothing you can do for Jayden and his mother that God cannot do better. This weekend, as you consider the people your church needs to pray for, please pray for Gene (our reader), his family, and particularly little Jayden who we should bring to the Father as a fatherless child.

Some would call this a little thing. I would call this your missiological assignment to make a relevant plea to God for mercy and love.
